Alumni Spotlight – Jed Murphy

As Pepin Academies celebrates 25 years of empowering students with learning and learning-related disabilities, we’ve taken time to reflect on the many lives touched by our mission. This milestone has given us the opportunity to reconnect with alumni and their families, reminding us that the impact of our work doesn’t stop at graduation.

In this special spotlight, we’re excited to catch up with Jed Murphy, a proud member of the Class of 2016.

Before finding his home at Pepin Academies, Jed had navigated several elementary schools and later enrolled in Florida Virtual School. In his junior year, he joined our Tampa campus in search of a more traditional high school experience—one that also offered the support and structure he needed to succeed. Diagnosed in childhood with what was then known as Asperger’s Disorder (now recognized as part of the Autism Spectrum), Jed and his family discovered that Pepin Academies offered the individualized attention that helped him thrive both academically and socially.

Jed recalls his time at Pepin as a truly positive experience. He credits the kindness and support of his teachers for helping him reach his goal of graduation. “They really cared,” he shared. “They helped me a lot.”

Today, Jed works at Sam’s Club’s eCommerce Warehouse, where he plays a vital role behind the scenes. From selecting and packing items to preparing shipments and organizing inventory, Jed keeps things running smoothly in a fast-paced environment he enjoys.

When asked what advice he’d offer to current Pepin students, Jed had this to say:
“Focus on what you’re going to do next and seriously create a game plan for your future.”

Stories like Jed’s remind us why we do what we do. His journey is a testament to the power of supportive education and the bright futures our students are capable of building.
